God chose King Saul to guide
Israel and lead them back to God. In fact, King Saul was a man after God’s
heart. However, he did sin before the eyes of the Lord. One day, at the command
of the Lord, King Saul led Israelites to fight the Amalekites. The Lord King
Saul to kill the King of the Amalekite; named Agag and everything that they
found in the land of the Amalekites.
God gave Israel victory in the
war and they overpowered and killed several Amalikets. However, they opted to
capture King Agag alive. Equally, the Israelite army failed to kill the best
sheep, lambs, calves and cattle. They only killed and destroyed what was
useless and kept to themselves what was good.
This was a rebellion against
God’s command which was equated to witchcraft. Shockingly, King Saul failed to
immediately apologize and seek for forgiveness. Instead, he defended the action
of the Israelite army. The bible records that that was arrogance towards God; a
sin which was equated to Idolatry. Prophet Samuel reminded Saul that the God of
Israel could not lie or change his mind. That the God of Israel was not a human
being. That was how King Saul sinned before the Lord. He never followed the
Lords command.
God talks to all of us in unique
ways. Until we keenly exercise and learn the basics of what demands of us, then
we will never understand what he demands from us. Ignorance is no defense. Let
us learn on each and every day what God demands from us. Our God is not a human
being.

When God commands, we should always be on our toes. Thanks for this reminder.
